Gemini Buying Guide: Google AI Plans, Limits, Privacy, and Workspace Fit
Last researched: August 7, 2026. Prices, models, feature availability, and usage limits can change; confirm final terms in Google's subscription flow before purchase.
Quick verdict
Gemini is a practical option for people who already work in Google services and want an AI assistant for writing, analysis, research, files, images, and connected Workspace information. The buying decision is about capacity, context-window size, connected-data controls, and whether the account is personal or managed by an organization.
Start with Free to test a real workflow. Google AI Plus is the lower-cost personal upgrade. Google AI Pro is the stronger personal option for frequent work, a 1 million-token context window, and Gemini in selected Google apps. Google AI Ultra is for unusually high personal demand or bundled Google AI benefits; choose 5x or 20x only after measuring actual use. A company needing governance should evaluate its eligible Workspace or Gemini Enterprise option rather than treating a personal subscription as an organization-wide control plane.
Plans at a glance
The prices below are Google's Thailand prices on the research date. They are monthly prices and can differ by country, eligibility, billing surface, promotion, or future change.
| Plan | Thailand price on August 7, 2026 | Gemini capacity | Included storage | Practical caveat |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | THB 0/month | Standard limits | 15 GB | Useful for evaluation, but heavy features can be constrained at high demand. |
| Google AI Plus | THB 189/month | 2x Free limits | 400 GB | Personal Google Account plan; availability can vary by region and capacity. |
| Google AI Pro | THB 750/month | 4x Free limits | 5 TB | Suitable for regular personal use, but not a replacement for Workspace administration. |
| Google AI Ultra 5x | THB 3,500/month | 5x Pro limits | 20 TB | Measure demand before paying for this high-capacity personal tier. |
| Google AI Ultra 20x | THB 7,500/month | 20x Pro limits | 30 TB | Confirm country-specific availability and benefit eligibility. |
Google describes Gemini Apps limits as compute-based, not as a fixed message quota. Prompt complexity, model and feature choice, and chat length affect usage. Limits refresh every five hours until a weekly limit is reached, and Google may change limits for availability or capacity.
How plan differences affect real work
Capacity and context
Google lists Plus at 2x the Free limit, Pro at 4x Free, and Ultra at either 5x or 20x the Pro limit. Advanced models, higher thinking levels, Deep Research, and media-generation features consume more capacity. For short drafting or brainstorming, Free or Plus may be enough. For repeated document analysis, coding, research, or longer conversations, test Pro first. Ultra is a capacity and benefit-bundle decision, not an automatic quality upgrade for every prompt.
Google documents a 32,000-token context window without an AI plan, 128,000 tokens for AI Plus, and 1 million tokens for AI Pro and AI Ultra. A larger window can matter for a large group of files or a long codebase, but it does not remove the need to verify answers against source materials. Google's subscription page describes uploads of up to 1,500 pages and chart creation from analyzed information. Test those capabilities with representative, permitted documents rather than treating them as a guarantee that every complex file or chart will be accurate.
Features and bundles
Google lists Canvas, Gems, Connected Apps, file and image workflows, Gemini Live, and Deep Research across its plan information, with some features consuming more usage. Pro includes higher access to Gemini in selected Google apps and 5 TB storage. Ultra adds the highest access level and other Google AI benefits, but many extras are country-, age-, platform-, or plan-specific. Choose a plan because it improves a workflow you will repeat, not solely because it advertises experimental, video, agentic, or early-access features.
Personal Google Accounts versus work accounts
Personal plans
Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra consumer benefits require a personally managed Google Account. They combine Gemini access, Google One storage, and other Google services. Connected Apps can let Gemini work with Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Tasks, and Keep. This requires privacy review: Google's Privacy Hub says shared data can include Gemini chats, device and preference information, location, and connected content such as emails, files, events, photos, and videos. Disconnecting an app or deleting underlying data does not itself delete Gemini Apps Activity that may already contain information from it.
Work and school accounts
For a work or school account, access depends on a qualifying Workspace edition and administrator settings. Administrators can enable or disable Connected Apps, while available integrations and features can vary by account type, edition, location, language, and device.
The Workspace connected-app documentation shows both capability and limitation. Gemini can summarize or find information in Gmail, Docs, and Drive, create tasks and notes, and manage calendar events. It cannot access Gmail or Docs comments or images; cannot access Drive pictures or videos; cannot create, draft, or delete documents, spreadsheets, PDFs, or presentations through that connected-app workflow; and cannot manage Drive folders. Test the exact action your team expects instead of assuming a connected source grants broad automation.
Google says it does not use Workspace data to train or improve the underlying generative AI and language models outside Workspace without permission. That statement concerns Workspace data; do not automatically apply it to a personal account. For a governed deployment, confirm the exact Workspace license, admin settings, data region, retention, DLP, identity, and contractual requirements with Google.
Privacy, connected data, and API budgeting
Personal-account privacy is a purchase criterion, not merely a settings detail. Google says that when Keep Activity is on, chats and shared content can be saved and used to provide, develop, and improve services, including generative AI, with human-review processes. Turning off Keep Activity stops future chats from being used to improve Google AI when no feedback is submitted. Google says Temporary Chats are not used to train its AI models, but are retained with the account for 72 hours to provide the service and protect users.
Budget the Gemini Developer API independently from Gemini Apps. Google's Developer API has separate Free and Paid tiers, rate limits, token pricing, grounding costs, and data-use terms. A production application should be costed from API usage rather than a consumer AI-plan price.
Which Gemini plan should you choose?
- Choose Free when you are evaluating low-risk personal tasks and can tolerate standard capacity and availability constraints.
- Choose Google AI Plus when you want a low-cost personal upgrade, 400 GB storage, and roughly twice the Free capacity.
- Choose Google AI Pro when you regularly need a larger context window, higher access to Gemini features, and 5 TB storage; validate selected-language availability in Google apps.
- Choose Google AI Ultra 5x or 20x only when measured demand repeatedly exceeds Pro capacity or its bundled benefits matter to you.
- Choose a managed Workspace or Gemini Enterprise route when you need administrator-controlled access, organization-wide deployment, or enterprise data governance.
What to test before buying
- Run one genuine, non-sensitive workflow using the same models, files, and connected services your users need.
- Record capacity use, then revisit usage after a five-hour reset and over a normal work week.
- Test a realistic long document or code sample. Verify that the context window is sufficient and that the response reflects the source material.
- Ask Gemini to create a chart from a small, known data set. Recalculate key figures independently before relying on the chart.
- With a work account, let an administrator enable only the required Connected Apps and validate access and unsupported actions.
- With a personal account, review Keep Activity, Temporary Chat, connected-app permissions, and deletion behavior.
- If building software, estimate Developer API usage from the official API pricing table.
Frequently asked questions
Are these Thailand prices the same everywhere?
No. This guide uses the official Thailand subscription page on the research date. Google displays plans and prices by region, so confirm the amount in your own Google account before subscribing.
Does a paid Gemini plan promise unlimited use?
No. Google describes compute-based limits, five-hour refreshes, weekly limits, and potential capacity changes. Paid plans provide higher access, not an unlimited-use promise.
Can Gemini create charts?
Google's Gemini Apps guidance says you can ask Gemini to generate a chart from response data, and its subscription page describes chart creation from analyzed information. Verify source data and calculations before using a chart in a decision.
Is Gemini App access the same as Gemini API pricing?
No. The Developer API has separate tiers, rate limits, token pricing, and data-use terms. Plan it independently for production software.
